Rough patches

Just thought i’d share a favourite bible verse of mine that i’ve been reminded of during a bible study I had earlier this week and been pondering about recently.

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It has not been an easy time for me lately, and if i’m being frank, I haven’t been feeling super optimistic either. So that’s why i’ve been doing what I know always helps me the best- Reading the bible and Gymming. Both keep me sane. Really. I can’t imagine what I would do if one day I could not do either. They help me clear my thoughts and bring me back to baseline. Insecurities about my future, doubt, fear and worry, these are all things that I constantly think about. But yet when I read the bible, I am yet again reminded that I should not worry, because what is this life to the Almighty God? The God who created this world. The one who said it and everything came to be! He will have good plans for me.

““Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:25-34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I know I said i’ll share one verse with you, but so many just keep coming into my mind!! They’re all so applicable. Don’t give up this fight on Earth alright guys? We’re fighting not against flesh and blood, but having a spiritual warfare! So remember to put on the whole armour of God, because who in their right mind ever goes to war without putting on their armour first? 😂

Just before I end this, I’d like to share one last verse that I always revert to whenever i’m feeling low in faith.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This when I tell myself that it is time to start reading the Bible more again.

Have a good rest of the week guys, it’s almost over already!! I hope this post has been a blessing to you as much as it has been a blessing to write it.

Take care,

Paul Chong
